Mass Intentions & Memorials

Memorials
From photo collages at a memorial service to planting a tree, there are many ways we can say, "I remember and loved this person." As you consider how you might want to remember a loved one, here are some ideas to remember them at their Church parish.

Flowers On The Side Altars of Mary & St. Joseph
Donations are accepted throughout the Liturgical Year, with names listed in the bulletin. Contact the Church office, (337) 232-8945 X118, Annie Governale.

Consider Church Beautification Projects
From time to time, there are various projects to enhance our worship environment. Call the parish office to inquire, (337) 232-8945 X118, Annie Governale.

GIVE THE GIFT OF LIGHT
Call the parish office to make your donation for a sanctuary lamp to burn for a loved one. A great gift on Father's Day, Mother's Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter, Anniversaries, in Memory, or in gratitude for an answered prayer and more. PLAN AHEAD, dates are available on a first come, first served basis. All candles burn for two weeks.

Your gift will be recognized in the Parish Family Bulletin. Fatima has three Holy places that contain sanctuary lamps: the Church, Chapel of the Little Shepherds, and the Pastor’s chapel in the Rectory.

Mass Intentions
When we face the death of someone, even a person who is not Catholic, to have a Mass offered for the repose of his soul and to offer our prayers are more beneficial and comforting than any other sympathy card or bouquet of flowers. To have a Mass offered on the occasion of their birthday, anniversary or Holy day is appropriate, beneficial and appreciated. An individual may ask a priest to offer a Mass for the repose of the soul of someone who has died. One must never forget the infinite graces that flow from the Sacrifice of the Mass which benefit one’s soul.

A request may be made for
  • a person who is living
  • a person who is deceased
  • members of a family
  • an intention fitting to the Eucharistic celebration; vocations, dedication to life, persecuted Christians, world peace, etc.

Following Universal Law and the Lafayette Diocesan Policy for scheduling Masses
  • Weekly Mass is celebrated for a single intention except for 2 Masses on the weekend where multiple intentions are offered. The Saturday 4pm Vigil Mass is a multiple intention Mass consistently. One of the Sunday Masses is for the Fatima Pro-populo, one for a single Mass intention, and one Mass for multiple intentions (these are rotated between the 9am,11am, & 5pm Masses throughout the calendar year).
  • The Mass Intentions are filled on a first come first serve basis.
  • The Mass Intention book is opened for scheduling for the new year on November 1 of each year.
  • The suggested offering is $5.00 per Mass per intention.
  • Mass Intentions (scheduled at least two weeks before the Mass) are published in the Bulletin.
  • The petitioner may request a card that they can send to notify a person that the intention has been requested.
Please call our office, if you have any questions regarding Mass intentions, (337) 232-8945. Drop by our office to request the Mass Intentions you need. Intentions must be made in person at the Parish Office (Office Hours, Monday-Thursday , 9am to 4pm.
