Fulfilling The Fatima Promise : A Light for the Future

January 2007

Tabernacle Donation: The architect is presently working on interior designs for our new parish hall. The hall will contain a day chapel, seating approximately 30 persons; we will need a new tabernacle for this chapel. The beautiful tabernacle from the previous day chapel will be used in another capacity to house special relics of the saints and have a dignified place in the new day chapel.

The new tabernacle must be extremely secure, sturdy and impossible to be moved.

We have found such an item, an 18th century Italian marble tabernacle. It will offer an extremely safe enclosure for the Blessed Sacrament.
If anyone would wish to donate this tabernacle, please contact the Pastor by telephone (232-8945) or following Mass.

Dear Parishioners and Friends of Fatima Parish,
Allow me to introduce the brochure for Fulfilling the Fatima Promise. Through it you will learn of our hopes and dreams for furthering the progress begun in our earlier Fatima Promise capital campaign.

One of the major objectives of Fulfilling the Fatima Promise is to have a new parish hall. Fatima Parish deserves a better facility for its parishioners and visitors. A new reception hall, Adoration Chapel, library, auditorium, and kitchen will provide dozens of church organizations and groups a comfortable and beautiful space for fellowship, learning and socializing.
We also want to continue a number of improvements to the interior of our Church. A new sound system, new and improved lighting, as well as expanded storage are some of the items on that dream list.

Please join us in accomplishing our goal. Please help us fulfill a promise that is rooted in our hopes for Fatima Parish as it enters a new Christian millennium.
We entrust this goal to Our Lady of Fatima and the Children of Fatima. May they intercede for us all, and through their prayers, may you be blessed in your generosity.

Yours in our Lord,

Glen John Provost

Why are we being asked to give again, and even more than we were in the last capital campaign?
We can be extremely proud of the generous and faithful giving you demonstrated in the Fatima Promise Campaign from 2001-2004. With the money donated, we were able to achieve our first priorities as we listed them in the 200l brochure. Now it is time to finish the job. This is why the parish council and finance council are urging you to dig deeper in faith to realize the promise of Fatima Parish. Our people deserve the quality worship and community environment that this Fatima Promise Fulfillment will provide. With construction costs increasing 10-20% each year, it is important to make the sacrifices needed to get the job done now. The future of our parish life hinges on our ability to provide our parish community a functional physical community hub: the church and parish life center.

What’s left to be done to meet the prayer, education, and fellowship needs of our parish community?
Now that our children have a new clean and safe place for Mother’s Day Out we can demolish Marian Hall, to create a facility to serve the rest of our parish family. Plans for the parish center building to replace Marian Hall include:

What’s left to be done in the church to meet the worship needs of our parish and school?
Although we are enjoying the Phase I improvements of new pews, new bathrooms, new paint, new handicapped accessible entrances, and a rainproof roof and exterior, there is still much to be done to enhance the worship space:

FULFILLING THE FATIMA PROMISE
“A Light for the Future”

To accomplish this vision, we need to follow the light of Mary, our Morning Star. She surrendered all to God’s call. What can we consider surrendering to the Lord and our brothers and sisters at Fatima? The cost of a restaurant meal ? A family night at the movies? Could we give that amount weekly for three years? It would be a fruitful investment in our personal spiritual growth and in the future of Fatima.

Questions & Answers
How much will the Fulfillment of the Fatima Promise cost?

To complete the renovation of the church and to build a totally new parish hall to support our church into the future, and to retire the parish debt, we would need approximately $3 million. This is twice as much as we raised in our last capital campaign.

How much should I give?
You must decide after prayerful consideration and careful thought, which share plan fits your family’s ability to contribute. We are praying that even more families will contribute and that those who gave to Phase I will increase their donations in order to complete the project. If each Fatima family could pledge sacrificially, we would be able to reach our goal of “Fulfilling the Fatima Promise.”

How do we make our contributions?
You will be contacted by mail or in person to answer questions you may have about the campaign or your “faith promise” pledge. Once you have made your choice, you will receive special envelopes which you will use to make your tax deductible contributions. Contributions will begin in July 2005 and continue for three years.

What happens If we don’t get enough money pledged?
As in the initial Fatima Promise Campaign, if fundraising FALLS SHORT OF OUR GOAL to complete the parish center and the church improvements, WE WILL DO WHAT WE CAN with what we receive. Our parish leaders have set as the first priority, the construction of a new parish center. It is possible that the church rewiring may be necessary as part of that construction project, since the current electrical and heating are tied to the church systems. At this time the parish offices and cloister are not being considered since they were lower priorities in the original Fatima Promise vision.

What happens if we give more than is needed for the church and parish center completion?
Although paying as we went during the Fatima Promise campaign prevented us from increasing our parish debt, we have set as a third goal the reduction or elimination of old Fatima debt incurred in our past from school and building costs. Should we be blessed to receive more than the cost of the designated improvements, we hope to change our situation from a debtor to investor status. In this way we can divert more of our offertory collection to increasing services rather than paying interest on old debt.

Can I support our Fatima Fulfillment in other ways?
Yes, especially with your prayers. You might remember the church in your will or as your life insurance beneficiary.
