My dear Parishioners,
The events of 1917 in a small and then insignificant Portuguese town were to have their effect on Fatima in Lafayette. There three humble children reported seeing the Blessed Virgin Mary. There she revealed special and pertinent messages of repentance and the need for prayer. Lucia, Jacinta, and Francesco were never to be the same again, and neither would Fatima in Lafayette.

Fatima Parish in Lafayette brings her children to Fatima. It shows them that they are part of a larger picture, a divine plan. God loves them! He loves us all! He brought about an end to atheistic Communism, when most of our politicians and diplomats were wringing their hands over it, It crumbled, just as every other threat to truth and faith would also, if we had the trust we needed. Fatima teaches our children to trust, not in fleeting materialism and in empty political theories that are here today and gone tomorrow but in God’s Revelation of Himself through Jesus Christ, His Son. If Mary points to nothing else, she points to this truth.
